The natural hues of the Hebrides - a blend of white shell-sand beaches, turquoise seas and the colourful wild flowers growing on fertile machair (coastal pasture) - are exceptional, by any standards. This trip provides a unique chance to climb the most distinctive of the Outer Hebridean peaks.

We visit the famous stone circle at Callanish on Lewis before climbing Suainaval (‘Mountain of the Pigs’). While Suainaval is but a short climb, the way is steep, rocky and pathless; the view, however, more than rewards the effort. On the following day we climb Cailleach Na Mointeach. On North Harris we take on Clisham, at 799m the highest peak in the Outer Hebrides. Clisham is steep, but we follow a path up most of our way.
Next, a ferry-crossing to North Uist where, on the island’s east coast, from imposing Eaval’s pointed summit we look down over a maze of lochans; we are almost completely surrounded by water. On South Uist we take the path winding around the pinnacles to climb the jagged Beinn Mhor, at 620m the island’s highest peak. Then, weather and time permitting we may also make the short climb to Ben Corodale, sandwiched between Hecla and Beinn Mhor. Finally, in the northwest of Skye we explore the famous pinnacles that comprise the Quiraing.

- Individual summits with an ‘edge of the world’ feel. The hills are not exceptionally high but are unfrequented with a lot of rough ground -

Accommodation
We spend two nights on Lewis, two on Harris, two nights on North Uist and, finally one night on Skye. Throughout the week we will stay in comfortable guesthouse/B&B accommodation.

Walking Grade
A mixture of mountain walks with 1500 to 3000 feet (450-900 m) of ascent and long low-level walks of up to 15 miles (24 km). We will walk for 6 to 7 hours a day at a steady pace but with plenty of view stops. There are few paths and the way is often over rough ground. Requires good fitness, previous hill walking experience is an advantage.
